Dr. Robert Svatek was born in Wharton, a small city in the upper gulf coast of Texas, between Houston and Victoria. His interest in fighting cancer developed while attending medical school at UTMB Galveston. He completed his residency training in Urology at UT Southwestern in Dallas followed by a Fellowship in Urologic Oncology (tumors of the urinary bladder, prostate, kidneys, penis, and testicles) at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Svatek joined the staff at UT Health Science Center San Antonio in August of 2010. His principal interest is improving the care for patients with bladder cancer and his research focuses on developing new treatment options and decreasing the side effects associated with current treatment.
