Tyler J. Burnett is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and an assistant professor at the Health Science Center. He has been with the department of psychiatry since 1994 and has served in several roles. Throughout his time with the department, he has maintained a general psychotherapy practice. Additionally, he has taught medical students in the physical diagnosis course and supervised psychiatry residents with assigned psychotherapy cases. He has contributed to several studies for bipolar disorder as an evaluator, therapist and interviewer. He has served on several committees both within the department and the School of Medicine. Supervision of the faculty practice intake office is another of his responsibilities.
Outside of the department, Mr. Burnett has served a one-year administrative apprenticeship in the medical dean’s office as a special projects manager. While in the dean’s office he helped develop the Medical School Leadership & Administration Program, which he also attended. He has managed the Employee Assistance Program, both as the clinician and administrator for UT Medicine and the Health Science Center. In 2010, he was named the chief of departmental relations for the department of psychiatry.
