Here are some testimonials about previous Surviving & Thriving retreats.

“The event gives us courage to keep on going.”

“It gave me my fighting spirit back.”

“We had such a wonderful time and still can’t help talk about it to whomever will listen. We learned so very much and enjoyed ourselves even more.”

“The workshops, the energy and the friendships were very healing.”

The Surviving and Thriving Retreat is a special event where cancer survivors and caregivers can get away from the pressure and stress of every day life to gain new skills and knowledge to enhance their quality of life.

At the retreat, survivors celebrate life through a variety of workshops, lectures and group activities that promote health & wellness, support, and laughter. Attendees come away feeling empowered and renewed.

Topics span a wide range of subjects. Attendees come away with increased knowledge about long-term side effects, psychosocial adjustment, nutrition support, health & beauty, and the numerous other aspects of cancer survivorship. Caregivers learn that they are not alone with their challenges and are given tools to optimize the relationship with their loved-one.

The weekend also provides an opportunity to share your insights with other people who have experienced what you are going through.

Approximately 75 adult cancer survivors and caregivers from throughout the United States are expected to be in attendance for this year's event which is scheduled for June 3 - 5, 2011 at the T Bar M Resort in New Braunfels, Texas. New Braunfels rests deep in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. Founded in 1845 by German settlers, New Braunfels is over-flowing with old world heritage and small town Texas charm. The theme for the weekend is "The World of Survivorship".

Suzie Humphreys
Suzie Humphreys

Suzie's background is as varied as her audiences. From television talk show host to 20 years in radio. Suzie Humphreys has fought breast cancer and lived her life with a passion for learning not only how to be better, but to see things differently. She lifts, jolts and nurtures her audiences and they love every minute of it. She makes them laugh until they swear they can't laugh anymore...then she "grabs" them again! Suzie is about believing that you can do anything you want to do and enjoy getting there.

Her own personal wistful and funny stories prove her point that "regardless of what the situation or the problem in the job or the relationship, it is NOT the problem…that's the problem. It is MY THINKING ABOUT THE PROBLEM. It is close to the bone stuff! It is everybody's "stuff". As Suzie says "my stories are probably yours, just told in a different voice.

Nestled deep within the rolling Texas Hill Country, The T Bar M Resort is an intimate setting with two scenic rivers and a host of activities.

The retreat features various activities such as creativity workshops, massage, yoga and meditation that focus on your mental, physical and spiritual well being, helping to boost your recovery from the impact of a cancer diagnosis and treatment.
